On October 25th Rodrigo commented he misses the days when the Raiders were in the playoffs and they had an awesome offense and just wants them to be respected within their division.Dude they say a great defense wins championships. F that how about a respectable defense and an awesome offense. Must suck to be Rich Gannon having to call Raider games for CBS. I know he just sits there and shakes his head. Makes you think if the Al didn't get antsy and pick up Collins in Gannon last season what could have been. Not saying he would still be playing cuz he's a fogie and also not saying that they would have won that year but check this:

I believe that with Colins breathing down his neck Gannon felt he had something to prove. On the play he broke his neck on, he ran the ball right up the gut, head down. That was really un-Gannon like. Although he ran a lot he always did it smart-running towards the sidelines, taking what he could get and sliding. You rarely saw him go "head up" especially not w/someone like Derrick Brookes.

I feel everyone just needs to be patient-this includes the Nation, ownership and the coaches. Impatient decisions such as the Kerry Collins pick up usually cost us big time. Imagine if Gannon were to have been left alone w/Brown and Rice foe another year or two to mentor the next generation of Raiders. Oh yeah with Gruden in there to coah. Let's see we would have continuity and stability something we have lacked since what the 80's. Al always wants to win YESTERDAY. But he has to realize that switching coaches every year doesn't equal championships. Look at most of the winning teams around the league-colts, patriots, packers, steelers, broncos they all have either the same coaching or the same system in place for a few years. Shit the damn steelers have had 3 coaches in the history of their team!! We've had 5 coaches since 2001!!

I don't want instant gratification-I want to make love. I want it slow with lots of foreplay let it build up and give me my satisfaction-a damn SuperBowl win at the end. I don't need a quickie right now. I need I mean the Raiders need to have a system overhaul which I think coach Kiffin has put in place and let this thing run it's coarse. To quote Al Davis- "The Raiders will win." It just won't be this year but if we give our coaching staff and our young players a chance to let this thing run it's coarse it will happen, just don't expect to "bust a nut" this year or next.

On a lighter note-watch Nip/Tuck, it prmieres tonight. Has just as much T-N-A as a cinemax movie!!

R.I.P. 2007 Raiders

Ok I know that's a bit of an exaggeration but let's face it the turn around that could have been is pretty much done. I was wishing for a historic turnaround but it's pretty obvious that's not going to happen. Yesterday was just weird. They looked ok in the first half but it's all mental mistakes that keep us from winning and now it seems as though the giddiness of Kifin Vs. Shell is wearing off.

"You know what? It's kind of like last year, to be honest-close games that we can't win,"-Nnamdi Asomugha said yesterday.

It's not like last year though. The only difference now is that the few vets that are hold overs are going to start comparing it to last year. This team actually has some direction to it now. The offensive line just has to get back to playing how it did the first four games. They have to give a little bit better protection and stop with the penalties already.

Our defense held vince young to 42 yards passing and the offense to just 218 yards. You should win these games. But guess what we only gained 238 yards which is not much better. You can't just be mad at Mike Williams for dropping a 4th and 14 pass that would have made a 1st down. It's the whole offense that's ailing and not just one guy. Even though I just said that what they made need to fix what's ailing them is a shot in the arm of Jamarcus Russell.

He suited up yesterday for the first time.  Although he may not take us to the playoffs this year, by putting him in their this year and letting him get some experience we may get their next year or the year after. If he gets in and is declared the #1 guy an no more "I don't know who is the starter on Sunday crap" he may rally the offense and get some wins this year. It's clear that Culpepper or McCown is not the answer-Culpeepper doesn't have the mobility that once made him a great QB and McCown has the mobility but not the leadership and poise to carry a franchise on his back. BUT I believe they have someone riding the pine that does poses those two attributes and he has a fat wallet which is going to dislocate his hip from leaning to one side if he doesn't get in soon!!

Damn I'm pissed

Ok so I took a few days off to post so I wouldn't get on here and make an ass of myself. I was pissed off this Sunday. I hate games where we should win and then choke at the end. Honestly both the chiefs and Raiders deserved to lose. The chiefs for not putting us away and us for not being able to beat a weak ass team who sucked most of the game just a little less than we did.

We are just too predictible-run on 1st and 2nd down, pass on 3rd. We have to mix it up to keep the opposing defense honest and get us some shorter 3rd downs. When you get some 3rd and 1's and 3rd and 2's-you can run, pass, play fake, boot leg just about anything goes. I have to remind myself to patient with this team. This is a project. Jamarcus Russell will not start as long as the Raiders are w/in striking distance of 1st in the AFC West. The chiefs are in 1st place at 4-2. That means if we would have won Sunday the Raiders would be in 1st. We still play denver at home, san diego at home and kansas city on the road.

Believe it or not the playoffs are not out of reach at all. This team will not throw in the towell anytime soon, so the rest of this season may be very painful for us. It will kind of be the way giant fans have been the last few years in baseball. Their division has been pretty bad so no matter how bad they have been they are always w/in shouting distance of the playoffs. Hopefully with two healthy quarterbacks, they will both compete to show they should be number 1 and they will start to look better. Too bad we can't trade Walter anymore to get a speedy receiver to stretch the field.

What the hell is this about.....

Can America's game be held out of our country. That would be crazy especially for fans of the teams to play in the Super Bowl.
I remember when the Raiders went in '02 I was seriously thinking of going-tickets were like 2G's. Can you imagine coming up w/another
1400 dollars for airfair and hotel accomadations and stuff that goes along w/overseas travel.

Ok so who's starting this week Culpepper, McCown or Russell. I say start Culpepper and let's see how he does w/a couple of
starts under his belt and if they keep struggling and they lose a couple more games in a row throw the rook in. I am hoping we see
see him by the end of this season. I am really curious to see this "rocket" of an arm. We'll be athis weeks game and I am hoping
to see the running game take off again and smoke "The Show"-that be the chiefs.

Arrrgggghhhh

"Everyone in the Nation has to be patient. What does everyone think is going to happen next year w/Russell starting-he will take his lumps and learn on the fly to!! Look for a miserable next 2 seasons-they'll look great 1 or 2 quarters or even for 1 or 2 games then suck ass for the next 2. They don't have clear leaders such as Gannon, Brown and Rice on offense YET to show them the way. Be patient grasshoppers, remember Gruden took 3 years to turn it around-look for the same w/Kiffin."

That was a quote from my very first post at the start of the season. Damn did this one hurt. Not becaue it was there for the taking and we blew it at the end but because we were never really in this game. We were down 14-0 half way through the first quarter and it almost felt like san diego let up a little bit. It could have been FARRRR WORSE!!

Honestly I believe this game was lost with the play calling. We didn't even try to establish the run game which early in the season has been our bread and butter. I applaud guys trying to play hurt-McCown and Jordan but when there is a viable back up-Culpepper or in this weeks case Rhodes and Fargas I think coach Kiffin has to have the stones to say "Thanks but you're sitting." Don't get me wrong Jordan is the man and I love his ballsy running but if we had to alter our style because he was hurt that ain't gonna fly. I know that the chargers are monsters up front but I think we should have at least tried to run in the beginning then mix it up.

Right before the half a few things bothered me:
1) Curry did not stretch out to try and hit the pile on.
2) Why did we not try pounding the ball in from the one since we still had a time out.
3) After we got punked and pushed back why the hell did we run another play w/9 seconds left and no time outs?
I know that a touchdown there would have completely turned the momentum in our favor but to drive to the 1 and come away with no points in that situation, on the road, especially since we were getting the ball back after half time is crazy.

If our full back can't get the job done, can't we get a "jumbo" package together-2 tight ends and maybe a big mofo like Warren Sapp or Richards in at full back? I believe Gruden used Sapp in short yardage situations in tampa. If we were to run something like this for a while eventually we could actually run this package in and play fake w/a Tight End peeling off the line.

What the hell was wrong w/Culpepper today. He looked nervous like in preseason-dropping the exchange, throwing some weird looking balls. Is it possible that he is not healthy and Kiffin was using the "he doesn't know the playbook" excuse as a smokescreen? It's pretty obvious that we need an upgrade at wide receiver. We need a speed guy that can catch to open up the field. These little 2 yard outs aren't going to get the job done. And last but not least our #3 ranked defense sucks ass!! They need to step up. Everyone besides our backers are playing like crap...especially the safeties. The safties are supposed to basically cover your corner's and font line's mistakes not look like they are lost all the time.

Sunday Vs. The chargers

Ok did you guys see san diego steam roll denver? Could this be them finally waking up and responding to "the great norv turner". Let's hope this was a fluke. The stomped denver 41-3. WTF did they take some No-Doze and finally wake up and decide they are actually good? I saw that "rumor mill" article on the Oakland Trib website. I wouldn't pay too much attention to it although I think the Raiders are all for getting better any way possible. If there is any truth to any part of that article I would be surprised to see them trade Gerard Warren or Warren Sapp. Although Sapp has no sacks to date he has been a disrupting force this year. I could definitely see how the weight loss has benefited him. Just about avery pass play he is in there chasing the QB. It's only a matter of time before he gets a couple in a game once or twice.

Did you guys see they let go of the running back w/the hard to pronunce name-I believe he is Nambi's cousin. I knw I could go back and find his name but I'm trying to finish this post before work starts and don't have the time!! He should be a good pick up for someone like green bay who is lacking a running back. Speaking of green bay-charles woodson looked good last night until he fumbled a kick return!! I don't wish him any ill will but I used to love that guy and can't stand that he left for the $$. I think he would have made an awesome free safety fr us had he bulked up a little bit.

We still have one too many quarterbacks and one too many runnning backs. It would be a good idea to dangle them out there as trade bait to try to pick up a fast wide receiver to open up the offense a little bit. With so many teams out of contention so early in the season, there may be a lot of teams trying to unload salaries and disgtuntled players. Look for something like this too happen soon with Rhodes being back from suspension and McCown looking healthier. I seriously doubt we will see McCown start another game this season, especially if Culpepper does good against san diego. I think we are more likely to see Jamarcus start before McCown.

Sucks to be this guy!!

As you guys no I'm an avid fisherman. What's weird is I don't care to much for fish but there is nothing like being out in nature, relaxing and doing battle w/a monster of a fish. I usually only keep what I will eat or can give away to someone who will eat it if not it goes back in the sea, river or lake to fight another day!! Imagine being this guy, he goes out fishing and you catch a car w/a guy in it. That dude caught a human-cicle. I can't believe the guy in the car survived!!

QB Position

Wanted:

FT position running a decrepid offense. Salary: DOE. Benefits include but not limited to being pummeled by opposing defenses, get orders barked at you by a rookie offensive coordinator, the glory associated by resurrecting a once proud franchise. Candidate must show great leadership skills, run like a mad man to avoid the rush and MUST pocess manly shoulders to avoid seperation from your body. Please send resume and try-out tape to the address listed below.

Sounds like the ad placed by the Raiders last year right? Now the shoe is on the other foot. The niners offense sucks and they need a quarterback. According to ESPN Alex Smith may undergo season ending shoulder surgery, although the niners are denying that is the case. Either way he should be out an extended amount of time. Know anyone who has a QB to spare? Hmmmm maybe we can trade McClown or Walter to them for hmmm Ashley Lele? He's not the greatest receiver in the world but he always played good against us when he was w/Denver. He may be what we need to stretch the firld and get our other receivers open and expand our offense a little. What do you guys think?
